NonStop Radio

has three core purposes:

  1. To discover and assist grassroots movements in keeping threatened Progressive Talk stations on the air for their communities,
  2. To assist grassroots efforts in re-establishing Progressive Talk stations where they have been canceled, or set up new Progressive Talk stations for markets not yet exposed to it, and
  3. To act as a clearinghouse of information so that activists everywhere can come to the aid of threatened and canceled stations, and to also distribute tips and tricks so that any non-threatened station can be made less vulnerable by its supporters.

Rachel Maddow Has Earned
Her Own MSNBC Show!

Rachel Maddow, the host who was classy enough to give the NonStop Radio Symposium a video presentation when her MSNBC obligations kept her from attending, has earned her own hour-long nightly timeslot on MSNBC, immediately following Keith Olbermann's Countdown. A lot of folks are saying she's been "given" a show, but let's not take a thing away from the good Doctor - Rachel has worked hard both on the radio airwaves and on MSNBC for this, and she has truly EARNED it.

To read more about it, check out this article in the Washington Post.

Symposium Success!

As August 2008 dawned, Madison, Wisconsin hosted the first NonStop Radio Symposium at the Exhibition Hall of the Alliant Energy Center. This watershed event brought together Progressive Talk hosts, media professionals, fans and activists from Boston to Seattle, Columbus to San Diego.

With Thom Hartmann, Jon Elliott, Cenk Uygur, Peter B. Collins, Richard Greene, Lee Rayburn, John Nichols, Donna Halper, Roger Libby and John Quinlan speaking in-person, along with Rachel Maddow via video and Stephanie Miller greeting the Opening Ceremony via phone, the event forged together an impressive alliance dedicated to Securing the Future of Progressive Talk.

Attendees were thrilled at the amount of real dialogue they got with those they came to see, as well as the delight of being able to bring back so much information to their local radio markets.

Great Seal of the Ho-Chunk Nation

The support of the Ho-Chunk Nation was vital to making this incredible event happen. Their continuing support is allowing NonStop Radio to bring some of these amazing three days to you. In just a few days, NonStop Radio will post audio and video from the Symposium at NonStopRadio.com, as the NonStop Radio Symposium Experience.

In the meantime, we are asking all attendees (and even those who couldn't come) to email feedback@nonstopradio.com with your impressions, suggestions, comments and kudos regarding the Symposium. We want to know what can be improved ahead of preparing the next one. Input is welcome on all things - guest speakers, location, or anything else you wish.

Yours in the Cause,
Aldous Tyler,
