has three core purposes:

To discover and assist grassroots movements in keeping threatened Progressive Talk stations on the air for their communities,
To assist grassroots efforts in re-establishing Progressive Talk stations where they have been canceled, or set up new Progressive Talk stations for markets not yet exposed to it, and
To act as a clearinghouse of information so that activists everywhere can come to the aid of threatened and canceled stations, and to also distribute tips and tricks so that any non-threatened station can be made less vulnerable by its supporters.

Peter B. Collins
	Star of the Peter B. Collins Show, owner of KRXA AM 540 (Monterey, CA), and longtime radio veteran from the days of Watergate through today, Peter B. Collins will give insights into how to own a Progressive Talk station in a moderate-sized market (the most common kind in America). Peter will be broadcasting his show from the Mic 92.1 on Friday evening.

Jon Elliott
	Star of This is America, Air America's most nocturnal original program, and oft-proclaimed "Most Dangerous Liberal in America", Jon Elliott wants to talk about something close to his heart and yours - Politics. He'll share his view on the role they've played in the history of America and the American Media, and where he sees them going. With the political atmosphere of the 2008 Presidential Election as his backdrop, this should be good. Jon will be broadcasting his late-night show from The Mic 92.1 on Friday.

Richard Greene
	Currently starring on the Air America show, Clout, Richard Greene's extensive experience in interpersonal communication will be brought to the fore as he shares with you how to develop and master the use of your own personal clout, especially as it pertains to securing the future of Progressive Talk.

Donna Halper
	Donna Halper is a respected and experienced media historian, who started broadcasting while attending Northeastern University 1968, becoming the first woman announcer there. Donna has had a successful career in broadcasting that has included over 20 years as a radio programming and management consultant in markets of all sizes, all over North America. She has done everything needed to help her client stations become more successful: hiring, training, developing talent, helped to choose or improve formats, and much more. She will share her insights into how best to work with the Progressive Talk format.

Thom Hartmann
	This four-time Project Censored-award-winning, New York Times best-selling author vitually gave birth to the idea of a Progressive Talk format in his December, 2002 article, "Talking Back To Talk Radio - Fairness, Democracy, and Profits". The Thom Hartmann Program is easily argued to be at the top of the Progressive Talk industry, and his 20+ books include the new "Cracking the Code", a look into how to package Progressive and Liberal messages in a way that the public will easily digest and accept. He'll give us the tips and tricks needed to communicate more effectively.

Roger Libby
	Dr. Roger Libby is an internationally recognized sexologist, social psychologist, sociologist and a board certified sex therapist, and author of textbooks and popular books on human sexuality. He hosted The Pleasure Dome on 99X (the largest alternative rock station in the America) in Atlanta, and is negotiating to restart the show nationally. He will share how important Progressive Talk is to the accurate dissemination of scientific facts, something very near and dear to his entire professional life.

Rachel Maddow
	Rachel Maddow, a Rhodes Scholar Doctor-of-Political-Science is a truly expert news-miner. In order to prepare for every show, Rachel goes through as many newspaper sources, websites and blogs as her waking hours will allow. In her video presentation, Rachel shares with us some things you simply might not be able to find out about Air America and Progressive Talk via Google.

Stephanie Miller
	Stephanie Miller is a rising star in morning radio. Her fresh and funny show is on dozens of radio stations across the country, and its success has everything to do with how entertaining it is. She joined us via telephone at the Opening Ceremony of the Symposium, helping us get off to a light and funny start in her own inimitible style.

John Nichols
	A truly astute voice on American politics, John Nichols seems to be everywhere at once... and we wouldn't have it any other way. Whether you have read his work in The Nation, heard him speak as a distinguished guest on virtually every Progressive Talk show, or been involved with Free Press, it cannot be denied that John is the Prime Mover of Media Reform. He will share with us the critical role Progressive Talk plays in reforming the media.

John Quinlan
	John Quinlan is a Madison, Wisconsin-based radio show host, print journalist, nonprofit development consultant, cultural competency trainer, civil rights activist, media reform advocate, and gay community leader. A 15-year veteran of both listener-sponsored and commercial radio, he has hosted and produced the social justice-focused Forward Forum since January 2005. He is the 2008 recipient of the city of Madison’s Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Humanitarian Award. John will model for us the fusion of community activism and progressive talk radio.

Lee Rayburn
	Lee Rayburn would tell you he does Progressive Talk radio because he is simply no good at anything else. Heard nationally as a frequent fill-in host across Air America's lineup, Lee's first love and main obsession is making sure his Progressive Talk station is kept up-to-date on the news and issues going on right there at home. Lee knows the importance of linking your local Progressive Talk outlet to the community it serves, and will talk about that.

Brian Turany
	Brian Turany has been dubbed "The Patron Saint of Progressive Talk", but you may not have heard of him. His miracles have been centered around Madison's "The Mic" 92.1, where as Porgram Director his job includes far more than you might expect. Brian will give us an inside look into what all is involved in making Progressive Talk work, from deciding on a program schedule that will satisfy the market's needs to playing diplomat between all the myriad parties that make up a single Progressive Talk outlet.

Cenk Uygur
	The original Young Turk, Cenk Uygur has been at the epicenter of Progressive Talk's development along many different technological platforms. From satellite radio to terrestrial, to podcasting, streaming and videocasting, Cenk has seen how emerging technologies effect Progressive Talk's reach, and will point to where he sees it going.
